Over 80 countries condemn Israel’s ‘unlawful’ settlement expansions in West Bank

Over 80 countries and multiple international organizations have condemned Israel’s decision to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank, calling the move “unlawful” and in violation of international law.

Hawzah News Agency- At a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York, Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian envoy, read a joint statement backed by nations across Europe, West Asia, Africa, Asia, and Latin America, along with the European Union, the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The statement also denounced Israel’s recent land registration process in Area C of the West Bank, describing it as a de facto annexation of Palestinian land. “Such measures violate international law, undermine efforts for peace and stability, and jeopardize the possibility of reaching a comprehensive peace agreement'', the statement read.

The condemnation comes amid escalating violence in the West Bank and East al-Quds, where intensified military operations, killings, and arrests have followed the ongoing war in Gaza that began in October 2023. Palestinian authorities reported that by the end of 2025, over 1,100 Palestinians had been killed and more than 9,000 wounded amid Israeli military operations and settler attacks.
